Privacy
Your notes are yours.
Privacy isn’t a setting you have to find. It’s how Quern is built. The full legal text is in our Privacy Policy.
The short version
Seven things to know.
No ads. We don’t sell your data.
Only you reach your notes.
Each account reaches only its own notes.
Locked notes stay locked.
on your phone, never sent to any AI, never shown in search, notifications or recent apps.
Our server keeps nothing an AI job reads.
The AI service sees only what that job needs, while it answers, under the terms our Privacy Policy names.
During testing, AI services may learn.
While Quern is in early testing, its AI uses free services that may learn from what they’re sent. Don’t save anything you wouldn’t want an AI service to see. A locked note is never sent.
Export everything, any time.
As your own file.
Delete a note or your account.
In the app, or on our deletion page. 30 days to change your mind.
Where your data lives
What stays. What travels, and why.
STAYS ON YOUR PHONE
Your phone
- Your keys
- A locked note’s words and files
- How alike your notes are in meaning
- Addresses and numbers found in a note
- Fingerprint or face unlock (the phone only tells Quern yes or no)
- Read aloud and reminders
- Your AI history
GOES TO OUR SERVERS
Our servers
- Your notes and files — so they’re on every phone you sign in on
- For a job that needs a bigger AI, only the bits it needs — used for that answer, kept nowhere on our server
- Your Google name and email — if you continue with Google; a guest gives neither
- Anonymous crash reports and usage counts — at most once a day: no account, no note, no words. Turn them off in Settings → Privacy, where “See what’s sent” shows exactly what’s waiting.
